LawyersAction is an independent nonpartisan political action committee organized under Chapter 106, Florida Statutes. Prior to each election, LawyersAction will endorse legislative candidates and actively publish these endorsements throughout the legal community in Florida, reaching many attorneys residing in your legislative districts. The endorsements will be based in part on the answers candidates give to the questions posed in this questionnaire. In the case of incumbents, voting records will also be considered.

LaywersAction seeks to support the independence of the judiciary and to help promote the value of the legal profession to all Floridians. Composed entirely of lawyers throughout Florida, our members represent the full spectrum of legal practices including real estate, probate, family, corporate, admiralty and criminal law, among others. We believe the cornerstone of our democracy is an independent judiciary that is free from political pressure and able to guarantee every citizen, regardless of race or economic conditions, a fair and impartial hearing to address individual grievances. We also believe it is essential that lawyers in Florida are regulated in a professional manner and disciplined aggressively, and we oppose any unnecessary or burdensome restrictions on the ability of an attorney to fairly represent a client.

It is critical that our State have solid persons in its Legislature who are willing to make the individual sacrifices to serve. We encourage you to read through the background material we have provided on some of our key issues and respond to the questionnaire as soon as possible.
